Fil de Soi 1

[français] La pièce est inspirée par l’Inde, une inspiration lointaine et imaginée, nourrie de l’écoute de récits de voyage et de sons, mais néanmoins très présente. Selon la mythologie indienne, c’est par le son que le dieu Brahmâ a créé l’univers, et non par le Verbe, par le mot, comme nous le posons en occident transformant ainsi la religion en machine dialectique. Le fil de soie mentionné dans le titre évoque les tissus colorés indiens, et en perdant son ‘e’ final, en devenant un « fil de soi » il renvoie à la fois à une idée de parcours introspectif dans son labyrinthe personnel –comme un fil d’Ariane, mais aussi à la musique mixte pour guitare et électronique en temps réel : les fils/cordes de la guitare reliés aux fils/câbles de l’électronique. Dans la partie électronique, nous poursuivons une recherche de transformation en temps réel du timbre de l’instrument, qui est la seule matière disponible (pas de sons pré-enregistrés) avec comme inspiration les sons du sitar indien.

[english] This piece is inspired by India; it is a far-off and invented inspiration, fed by listening to travel writings and sounds, but nevertheless very present. According to indian mythology, Brahmâ divinity created the universe by sound, and not by the Word as we state in the West, thus transforming religion into a dialectical machine. The title « Fil de soi » refers in french both to a « fil de soie », that is a silk thread, and without the final ‘e’ « Fil de soi » to an introspective path in our personal labyrinth –like Ariadna’s thread. It also refers to mixed music for guitar and live electronics: the threads/strings of the guitare linked to the threads/wires of the electronics. In the electronic part, we continue a research on realtime timbre transformation of the instrument, that is the only sound material (no pre-recorded files) with the inspiration of indian sitar
