Spatialization of the 11 groups of 11 sounds.

Sound spatialization in the nave

To spatialize the bell of bells in the nave, ie the 11 groups of 11 sounds, Alain Bonardi uses 9 loudspeakers: 8 among them are suspended to cross beams and the last one is put on the bottom balustrade. The sound field is therefore stretched from the bass register to the treble register, from the choir to the tribune, from east to west following the principal direction of the hôtel-Dieu.

The joint animation shows the diffusion of the groups of sounds into space, from the bell 1 (B1) to the bell 11 (B11). Bells 9, 10, 11 are sent to one loudspeaker.

In addition to the nave, the chapel with La Mise au Tombeau (Christ's burial) is also equipped with 5 loudspeakers, that are used at certain moments as a musical answer to the nave.
